Grounding & the product

What is grounding (earthing)?
Grounding means direct electrical contact between your body and the Earth's surface. The Earth carries a subtle negative charge; when you're in contact with it — barefoot on grass, for example — your body equalizes with it. Modern rubber-soled shoes are insulators and block this contact. Grounding has been examined in over 55 peer-reviewed studies. Learn more on our Science page.

How do the shoes work?
Each pair has a conductive copper contact in the sole connected to a conductive pathway up to your foot. On conductive ground — grass, soil, sand, concrete, stone — you're grounded with every step. Asphalt, wood and vinyl are insulators, so grounding is reduced or absent there.

Do they work on pavement and concrete?
Yes — concrete and stone are conductive, especially when slightly damp. Asphalt is not.

Do I need special socks?
Thin regular socks allow partial conduction through moisture; for the full effect wear our silver-threaded grounding socks or go sockless.

Are these medical devices?
No. Our products are not medical devices and don't diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Testimonials are individual experiences. Talk to your doctor about any health condition.

How long until I notice something?
Honest answer: it varies. Some customers report changes within days; for others it's gradual over weeks of daily walks; some feel nothing distinct. The studies looked at markers over periods from single sessions to several weeks.

Fit & sizing

How do they fit?
Our shoes are foot-shaped with a wide toe box and run true to length. If you're between sizes, size up. Full details in the Size & Care Guide.

Are they good for wide feet?
Yes — the natural last is wider than conventional shoes, especially in the toe box. See Wide Feet & Bunions.

How long does shipping take?
Processing 1–3 business days, then 5–8 business days in the US (longer internationally). See the Shipping Policy.

Can I return them?
Yes, within 30 days of delivery, unworn outdoors. See the Return & Refund Policy.

How do I track my order?

Care

Can I wash them? Does the copper wear out?
Spot-clean rather than machine wash; the conductive elements are built for the life of the shoe under normal use. Full care instructions in the Size & Care Guide.
