Size & Care Guide
Finding your size
Our shoes are built on a natural, foot-shaped last: roomy toe box, zero drop, true-to-length fit. Three rules:
- Measure, don't guess. Stand on a sheet of paper in the afternoon (feet swell during the day), trace both feet, and measure heel to longest toe. Use the longer foot.
- Add thumb-width. Your longest toe should have 10–12 mm of free space to spread.
- Between sizes? Size up. Toes need room to work.
Each product page includes the exact insole length per size — compare your measurement directly. If you're unsure, email a photo of your traced foot with the measurement to info@grounding-footwear.com and we'll size you personally.
Breaking in
If you're new to natural footwear, your feet will be doing more work than they're used to. Start with 30–60 minutes a day for the first week and build up. Mild muscle awareness in the feet and calves is normal at first.
Caring for your grounding shoes
- Cleaning: spot-clean with a soft brush, lukewarm water and mild soap. No machine washing, no tumble drying — heat damages both the materials and the conductive pathway.
- Drying: air-dry at room temperature, away from radiators and direct sun.
- The copper contact: copper naturally develops a darker patina with wear — this does not reduce conductivity. If the contact gets coated in mud or grime, rinse and brush it clean; a dirty contact grounds less effectively.
- Insoles & socks: use the supplied conductive insoles; standard cushioned insoles will insulate you from the sole. For the strongest connection wear grounding socks or thin natural-fiber socks.
When to replace
With daily wear, expect the outsole to serve you roughly as long as any quality walking shoe. If the copper contact ever wears flush or the sole cracks through, conductivity can drop — email us photos and we'll advise: info@grounding-footwear.com.
