Grounding isn't a wellness trend. It's physics.

The idea in 60 seconds

The Earth's surface holds a subtle negative electrical charge, continuously replenished by the global atmospheric circuit. For nearly all of human history we were in direct contact with it — barefoot, in leather-soled shoes, sleeping on the ground. Your body is conductive: when you touch the Earth, your electrical potential equalizes with it. Researchers call this grounding, or earthing.

Around the mid-20th century we changed one variable: soles. Rubber and synthetic foams are electrical insulators. Since then, most people in industrialized countries spend essentially zero minutes per day in conductive contact with the planet they live on.

What the research looks at

More than 55 peer-reviewed studies have examined grounding in humans, investigating measurable outcomes such as:

  • Inflammation markers — several studies report reduced markers of inflammation after regular grounding, with researchers proposing that the Earth's free electrons neutralize positive charge that accumulates in the body.
  • Sleep and cortisol — grounded sleep studies have reported normalization of day-night cortisol rhythm and subjective sleep improvements.
  • Blood viscosity — pilot work has reported reduced red blood cell clumping after grounding sessions.
  • Pain and recovery — studies on delayed-onset muscle soreness and self-reported pain have found differences between grounded and ungrounded groups.

We keep our claims careful on purpose: much of this research involves small cohorts, and science moves by replication. But the underlying mechanism — conductive contact equalizing electrical potential — is measurable with a simple voltmeter, and we demonstrate it on camera regularly: body voltage in a modern home typically reads elevated; touch conductive ground, and it drops toward zero. Instantly.

How our shoes ground you

  1. A copper contact in the outsole touches the ground.
  2. A conductive pathway runs from that contact through the sole to a conductive footbed.
  3. Your skin (or a conductive sock) completes the circuit. On conductive surfaces — grass, soil, sand, stone, concrete — you are grounded with every step.

No batteries, no electronics, nothing to charge. It works the way a lightning rod works: it's just a conductor.

What grounding is not

What we promise is simple and verifiable: our soles conduct, rubber soles don't, and outside on conductive ground you'll be electrically connected to the Earth — like walking barefoot on grass, in any shoe, on any street.
